GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The primary accountabilities of this position are to work as part of the sawyer team to facilitate the sawing of logs to required dimensions within tolerance, maintaining log and timber inventory in an organized and sustainable fashion, work with other Swayer & Tail Sawyer(s) to ensure optimal production, carry out maintenance requirements and servicing on the mill and heavy duty equipment and ensure safety standards are always met.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Process logs in the sawmill to timber specificationsrequired.
2. Maintain / oversee maintenance of sawmill equipment in acost-effective manner to minimize downtime
3. Work with the saw team to maintain an organized log &timber yard
4. Responsible for ensuring that clean-up of mill and log yardare kept to meet personnel safety, fire safety, operational and aestheticrequirements
5. Ensure heavy duty equipment is serviced on a regularschedule and maintained in a safe operating and cost-effective manner.
6. Unload and organize log & timber trucks upon arrival inthe yard.
7. Participate in log selection process.
8. Provide assistance in shop, planning, finishing, packaging and loading out trucks as requested.
9. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Able to operate heavy duty wheel log loaders, head rig circular saws, Woodmizer bandsaw and forklifts.

Able to carry-out maintenance requirements and servicing on the mill equipment and heavy-duty equipment.
