Canadian Timberframes is proud to be a Certified Dealer for Loewen Windows

We are excited to bring the outstanding quality and craftsmanship from this Canadian company to our customers. One of the key elements for Canadian Timberframes in making our decision to become a certified dealer was not only the quality but the Douglas Fir used in the production of their products. The Douglas Fir will give our customers the finished match they are after in building their luxury timber frame home.

Alexandre Lathion, a Canadian Timberframes designer & timber frame technician had the chance to take part in their annual dealer training that was held in their factory of Steinbach Manitoba last week.

During the 4 day training session, he got an in-depth look at the process and manufacturing facility; he was able to tour the production lines and headquarters of this company founded in 1905.

With over 500 employees and a production facility of more than 600'000 square feet Loewen has the means to produce an outstanding product. "More so than the means it is the passion and pride that struck me"  said Alexandre  during his visit, "real craftsman are actually involved in the fabrication and design process of these windows and it shows in their end product."

They produce it all, from the very traditional double hung windows to their modern lift and slide system. Loewen also offers a custom window making department to meet any of your design needs...the only limit is your imagination.

With a wide variety of designs and applications, as well as a Canadian dollar price point Loewen is a great addition to our offering and we are looking forward to quoting the windows on your next project.

Why a 3rd party professional inspection service & monthly auditing program is an important value added service to customers

Canadian Timberframes (CTF) has recently enrolled into the Timber Products Inspection program. Timber Products Inspection, Inc. (TP) is an independent, third party woods product inspection, testing and consulting company with field representatives throughout North America.  They provide professional inspection services as well as monthly auditing to all of their customers.  Using TP, our customers will now have independent, professional third party assurance of our timber grades stamped on our timbers.  Their grading rules are based upon ‘Standard methods for establishing stress grade for structural members used in log and timberframe buildings’ Standard ASTM D3957 a North American recognized standard used for both residential and commercial uses.

Walter Bramsleven, our Production and Logistics Manager says “we are excited to pass this high level of quality to our customers and we are one of the few of North American timberframe companies with this level of timber accreditation.”

One of the great benefits to our customers from this new program, is when a grade of timber is specified by an architect or engineer within their design, we can deliver on these requirements in house without adding additional costs or time, where other manufacturers would have to source this service; get tested & comply. Grading also provides a layer of protection for the manufacturer and homeowner by establishing definable levels of quality for the products being sold and marketed within the industry.

The Grading Process:

TP’s lumber experts, engineers and research scientists have developed an accredited program to define stress grades for the log and timber industry’s use. In this program, logs and timbers are visually inspected with qualified graders observing all the surfaces of the member for strength reducing characteristics. Graders must be TP personnel or individuals trained by TP at manufacturing facilities.

Manufacturing facilities with grade-marking privileges must have their graders certified and their performance is routinely monitored on an unannounced basis to assure conformance to the guidelines.

By providing this level of confidence and security to our customers it ensures 3 important measures: each piece has been visually inspected and graded – ensuring quality; it ensures all clients are delivered the quality of wood specified in their contract, and lastly; with the ongoing monthly surprise inspections by TP the quality & grading is always being inspected, validated and third party endorsed.

If you would like to know more about our program we are here to answer your questions.  Please contact Walter Bramsleven at wbramsleven@canadiantimberframes.com

“A lot has changed in 2 years, since I have joined this organization” says Jeff Bowes, President & equity partner in Canadian Timberframes Ltd in Golden, BC. Like many businesses; the slow economy in 2008 & beyond had hit us hard but since then, Jeff says that “we have achieved a 100% sales and revenue increase and a 300% increase in our backlog”, which is contracted available revenue.

“Our growth in the last 12 months alone, has lead to the hiring of 4 permanent employees that have moved to Golden and purchased property here; adding to the towns economy” says Bowes. We have doubled our design team, increased our floor workers, finishers and hired a production manager all to keep up with our demands.

We (CTF) are dramatically expanding our front-end and back-end service to include architectural and engineering services – design work prior to our product being in place, and then site services and construction to help the project moving forward.  “It is an exciting time to be in business”, comments Bowes.

Canadian Timberframes Ltd. (CTF) has been supplying quality Douglas-fir timber frames to builders, architects and clients across North America since 1999. Our 20,000 sq.ft. facility sits on 20 acres and houses our offices, on-site sawmill, in-house design team and our manufacturing & finishing shop. Canadian Timberframes sits along the Trans-Canada corridor in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, where we have access to some of the most sought after timbers on the planet and the ability to offer cost effective and speedy shipping to your site.
