We at Canadian Timberframes are a team of creative, skillful, dedicated and diverse professionals sharing a common goal; providing you, our client, with a timeless timber frame home. It goes without saying that we pride ourselves with the quality of our products, and our commitment to go above and beyond when providing customer experience. We have built a solid reputation as one of the World's Premier Timber Frame Companies not only because of our precision and passion - but because we truly care about our clients needs.
Growing up on a farm in Ontario, work often found itself within the shadows and protection of many turn of the century hand cut timber frame barns. The appreciation for these structures inspired what is now a 32 year career in the Industry. In the mid 80's Jeff started a 20 year involvement with an Ontario based timber frame firm. In 2006, requirements of many projects, architects and clients led Jeff to resign from this eastern firm and strike out toward the west and source what he would later refer to as a "Premier Boutique Timber Frame Manufacturer". In 2011 Jeff was invited to join Canadian Timberframes as a partner, to direct business development and growth through his vision of marketing, customer service and expanded product lines. Jeff enjoys being "on the ground" monthly throughout Canada and the US, whether at shows or consulting with clients, architects and builders.
"Jeff's true grounding comes from time spent in the mountains, whether skiing, biking or just taking it all in"

Stuart comes to CTF after 15+ years working as a Professional Forester in Golden. His work in the forest industry started as a summer job, tree planting his way through University. After graduating from UBC he came to Golden for a summer position with the local Plywood company and never left. He advanced over the years taking on multiple roles in forestry beginning with Silviculture Forester and culminating with the Manager of Forestry Operations. Stuart spent 5 years as the Fibre Sourcing Manager for the LVL/Plywood plant, building external customer relationships to buy, sell and trade veneer and logs. Selling Douglas Fir logs to CTF was Stuart’s introduction to Jeff and our company. In 2010 he completed his MBA, and is looking forward to transferring his knowledge and experience in business strategy, operations, and supply chain management to the rapidly expanding operations at CTF.
After hours you will find Stuart following behind his wife and kids on the local ski hill, XC, bike, and hiking trails, making the most of what the Rocky Mountains and neighbouring National Parks have to offer.
Raised in Golden, Debra has returned to be closer to her family. Debra is excited to join Canadian Timberframes and be a part of a Professional Organization that values customer service.
When Debra isn't working she is spending time with her family and most likely planning her next big trip. When asked what her favorite travel destination is her response is "I don't have a favorite place, just a favorite thing about the places I have travelled."
From Hotel and Project Management to an international relocation advisor, Caroline is happy to join CTF! Recently, she was coordinating the international relocation for CAF members and she truly loved it. It was a challenging time by the complexity of the international relocation but it was the most rewarding position as she had the chance to make a difference in the lives of many families by her kindness and hard work. She believes that when a team works together we can reach higher summits.
Caroline and her husband relocated from Ottawa to be in Golden and she can't believe that she is in BC again. Original from St-Raphael in QC, she always wanted to travel and meet new people. She travelled through Canada and Europe enjoying Corsica and the Mediterranean. But it is in BC that she found roots. She is an avid snowboarder and always ready for a new adventure!
"The real journey is not to travel the desert or to cross great distances underwater, it is to reach an exceptional point where the flavor of the moment bathes all the outlines of the inner life." -- Antoinde de Saint-Exupéry

From a stay at home mom to taking on part time work...Eleanor started in the shop sanding and staining part-time. She progressed to completing hand cutting and chiseling, to operating the forklift and packaging the completed project. After six years in the shop she moved into her administrative position in the front office. For a number of years before joining CTF she worked with a small silviculture company on prescribed burns; clearing overgrowth from planted trees with a brush saw and cleaning creeks after logging crews had completed their harvest. Eleanor's the one who would gladly help out with anything at the office. At home she happiest working in her flowerbeds, camping and quading with her family in the summer and sledding and ice fishing in the winter.
"Planning for an exotic vacation is on Eleanor's wish list."

We are pleased to welcome a new member to the design team – Alexandre. He brings over 17 years in the woodworking industry with him most recently from Cambium Woodwork, a custom architectural woodwork company in Calgary and 3 years before that he was living with his wife and working in Veysonnaz which is situated in the Swiss Alps. Alexandre brings a passion for wood and mountain living with him to his position. “Wood is a material that has always appealed to me; there is nothing better than smelling the scent of fresh cut wood when you arrive to work. Creating a structure out of a natural resource is also very rewarding; I can apply my knowledge of modeling software towards making beautiful and functional living spaces in some of the most spectacular locations for our customers.” Says Alexandre.

"I grew up in Germany a few kilometers from where Hundegger machines are manufactured so it was logical for me to complete my university studies on how these machines improve productivity in the timber frame industry. This knowledge opened doors for me to work in North America." Joachim successfully contributed his design talents to timber frame companies in Tennessee and Ontario where he was also instrumental in implementing HSB design software to guide the production of cutting the timber frame from handwork to machine precision. In the summer of 2012 he acted on an opportunity to join our team and headed west with his "Canadian" wife to settle in Golden. This time his travels takes him to the B.C. mountains where yet another passion takes hold on the slopes.
"Leben ist gut! (Life is good)."
Accepting a tempting internet job offer from Canadian Timberframes uprooted Klaus from Rosenberg, Germany. His 20 year background in timber framing and design is a great asset when it comes to the complexity of designing energy efficient envelopes and complex roof structures for our timber structures. Golden is a favorite place his family enjoys all year round. Klaus often spends time camping at the lake with his family.
"Klaus is always up for the challenge of snaging a catch-of-the day for dinner."
Jeff has applied his passion for the aesthetics of wood design in the Design and Engineering Industry in a variety of roles and responsibilities. He moved from Calgary in 2010 to join CTF and apply his experience as an architectural technologist to both residential and commercial timber structures. When Jeff is finished resolving any core issues of a project to keep it moving on schedule, preparing engineered drawings for a luxury mountain home, he leaves the office walls behind to enjoy many outdoor activities against the back drop of the mountains. One of these days he'd like to go powder snowboarding in the forests of Japan.
After completing his civil engineering degree, a strong interest in traditional timber frame lead Michael to take a 13 week timber frame program in Cranbrook, BC to learn some of the practical knowledge and tricks of the trade. Martina grew up in Slovenia, where she completed a degree in Architectural Engineering. Her thesis focused on sustainable home design and it’s these principles, concepts and passion that she now applies to her designs at Canadian Timberframes. While on a rock climbing trip in India Martina met a fellow climber from Canada. She came to visit him a few months later, bringing only a surf board and gym bag full of clothes. She's never left. They are now happily married and live with their three dogs and small flock of chicken. Since then Martina has lived across western Canada and worked in a number of different positions and has finally found her dream job in her dream location. On weekends or after long days being in front of her computer, Martina can usually be found hanging off the side of a mountain on the pointy end of a rope, or barreling down one on skis or a mountain bike.
“Believing in sustainable principles, Martina is motivated by frugal living. She was called a 'crazy professor' by her friends due to all of her DIY projects around her house and yard.”

With a passion for computerized technology Matt does a great job of operating the Hundegger Planer and K2, and controlling the flow of floor operations. The Hundegger runs at a steady pace and he keeps a good balance of feeding the machine and keeping the crew busy as well. He's very gratified to see his efforts come to fruition. From a background that started with Matt planting massive forests he now crafts that tree to be part of a spectacular timber frame structure. Matt and his wife keep busy with their 3 kids enjoying the great outdoor life they have chosen in Golden. When the kids are asleep Matt puts time aside to work on building a new and improved computer or planning for his bike trip across Canada!

Rick Schacher has been involved in the forestry and timber business most of his life here in the Columbia Valley. From overseeing the huge log inventory, being the primary sawyer, and being responsible for the care and maintenance of our mill and heavy equipment, Rick is our "go to" guy. It's worth noting that the easy way to find Rick in the busy summer season is to look for the cloud of dust….he'll be just ahead of it!
