This 2,200 sq. ft. Boat House in Canada was designed to create a quite comfortable space in a natural environment so guests can enjoy the beauty and peaceful nature of the cottage lifestyle.

Of course with having the luxury of owning a lakefront property, there are always strict building codes & envelope guidelines that must be adhered to and considered in the design stage.

This client requested the main floor (Living Area) of their boathouse to be mostly open space, allowing the timber frame structure to delineate the spaces & their uses. The client’s intention is to be able to store 3 boats in the boat garage below the living area, this requirement gave the building its form and size to work within. Client also requested a covered area where people could sit and relax protected from the elements but enjoy the view.

The boat house boasts, interconnected kitchen, dining and great room on the main floor with a corridor to access the 2 bedrooms on this floor and main washroom. The second floor houses the master bedroom with ensuite and 360 degrees views of the waterfront & lot. The boat garage/Basement opens up to 3 boat spaces for docking, connected to a small powder room. There is a workshop area on this floor to maintain and work on boats and all the mechanical for the building is held on this floor as well.

Timber frame boathouse connects to the beautiful lake side, with encased in cedar shingle and vertical siding the open concept floor plan with a surrounding balcony and exterior timber framed staircase to allow access to the balcony from the deck, the interior stairs allow access to living area from the boat garage, creating a space for family and friends to enjoy, relax and have fun in. The perfect addition to any family recreational property!
