Required Skills:
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain, update and report daily to management on the status of projects and the day to day activities within the manufacturing department.
- Coordinate production schedule with the Production & Logistics Manager (PLM) to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Communicate daily with PLM to ensure that work activities and deliverables are aligned with contracted obligations and set delivery dates
- Lead, mentor and motivate in a professional manner manufacturing personnel encouraging self-initiative, innovation, creativity and technical expertise in order to continually drive improvements and high services standards; meeting all company goals, targets and objectives.
- Monitor performance of manufacturing personnel for progress, in a flexible manner, taking steps to even work load and QC work for consistencies & correctness
- Ensure that all manufacturing activities/products pass quality control procedures and that all requirements are carried out; make judgments about the best way to solve issues and problems
- Maintain manufacturing efficiencies to meet budgeted costs
- Accountable for health & safety on the floor
- Assist PLM to maintain OH&S and WHMIS standards and compliance
- Maintain efficient, organized and professional facilities and equipment
- Oversee equipment and facilities care and maintenance
- Oversee inventory care and storage while assisting in maintaining acceptable inventory levels
- Understand and monitor budgeted costs associated with individual projects
- Maintain manufacturing efficiencies to meet budgeted costs
- Participate in development of operational guidelines, efficiencies and procedures
- Assist with timber frame raisings and material package installations at various site locations
- Assist with special projects (ie renovations, expansions etc)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be a dynamic individual with strong business and management principles involving leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources required for achieving company goals
Must be self-motivated with the ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work. Identify the best people for the job, assess performance of yourself and others to make improvements, develop skills & or take corrective action to improve performance
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers and management
Must have previous supervising experience
Must have good communication skills to all levels within the organization both in writing and verbally
Experience with raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
Must have a complete understanding of the production flow and product completion
Must be experienced and knowledgeable with general building practices and the National Building Code
Comprehensive knowledge of drawings and their interpretation
Experienced with operating machines and tools, including their uses, repair, safety and maintenance
